Curative Characters: 'Health Education with a Twist'
As an experienced Registered Nurse, Mary was frustrated with the way health education kept using big words and technical terms. With a background in the performing arts, she tried combining cartoon characters with a nurse's knowledge and found an eager audience. In 2002, Auntie Stress Stella made her debut on Native American reservations in southern California, and went on to appear at health fairs and promote staff morale at other health organizations.
Mary currently has five different characters to offer, each with her own 'specialty': Auntie Stress Stella (2002), Tilty Whorl, Esq. (2008), Katie Dunn-Didd PHN (2011), Fiona O'Lafferty OMG* (2012), and We'Alwyn (2014). Their humor and style depend on the needs of the particular audience. They can do audience-specific monologues (preparation time required), informal schmoozing, and individual consultations, all with panache and serious silliness! *Order of the Many Giggles Mary also does 'straight' presentations in the areas of health education, Christian spirituality, and eclectic nursing care. Contact Mary for further details or to book a performance.
